WATER & GAS INFRASTUCTURE FOR THE MINING SECTOR

Mining Sector

BRP has completed several water and gas utility based projects in the mining sector.

These projects have been mostly based around dust suppression via the use of directional drilling technologies, where conventional trenching techniques could not be used.

Specific services include:

FULLY LICENSED

FULLY INSURED

SAFETY-FOCUSED

Non-Destructive Digging (NDD)

Vacuum excavation, hydro excavation or potholing involves combining high-pressure water jets to clear an area, and an air vacuum to excavate the material from that area. This is commonly known as non-destructive digging (NDD).

Vacuum excavators are most commonly used to safely remove unwanted material around underground utilities, cables, pipelines, tree roots or tracks, such as mud, dirt or slurry. BRP Industries offer this service for emergency repairs, removal or routine maintenance inspections. We can also help in situations where there is no way of locating underground assets apart from non-destructive digging.

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

This strategic service allows us to drill beneath existing roads, railway lines, public areas, footpaths and buildings, in wet or dry ground conditions. This saves time, money and has a low environmental impact.

Horizontal directional drilling is a minimal impact trenchless method used to install underground pipes, conduit, or cables. This is achieved in a relatively shallow arc or radius along a prescribed underground bore path. We use a surface-launched drilling rig to undertake this work.

Underboring

On each project, we set up a small area to house our drilling and underboring equipment, away from congestion and daily activities. Our experienced drilling crew carefully plans a horizontal bore path to avoid obstructions, such as existing underground utilities, and through constant communication, they steer the drill bit in a combination of varying degrees and depths to fulfil the planned underboring path.

Our state-of-the-art equipment means we can deliver horizontal directional drilling and trenchless underground boring in a wide variety of situations. Our high level of planning ensures the project has minimal disruption to city spaces and adequately protects the surface environment.
